PZ vs LQ Live Streaming: Lahore Qalandars vs Peshawar Zalmi PSL 8 2nd Eliminator 2023
Lahore Qalandars
The Lahore Qalandars were the best team during the group stages where they were the first teams to qualify for the playoffs and finished at the top of the table. After winning six of their seven matches, they have fallen on hard times over the last few weeks, losing three of the last four matches, including Qualifier 1 against the Multan Sultans.
For the Qalandars this season, Fakhar Zaman has scored 384 runs, including a century and two half-centuries, and has shown red-hot form. During Qualifier 1, he fell cheaply to the Multan Sultans, and the team will look for him to improve here.
Other top-order batsmen, such as Mirza Baig, Abdullah Shafique, and Sam Billings, have also performed well in patches. Their performance in this match will relieve Zaman of much of his load. In addition to Sikandar Raza, David Weise, and Hussain Talat, the Qalandars have all-rounders like these.
Peshawar Zalmi
It has been quite the opposite journey for Peshawar Zalmi during the group stage than for the Qalandars. They haven’t been consistent with their performances, but they’ve scraped together enough to finish in 4th place. Islamabad United came up against Peshawar in the Eliminator, and the team managed to hold their nerve right until the end, winning by 12 runs.
For Peshawar, the batsmen at the top of the order have done well, led by skipper Babar Azam. Babar has scored five half-centuries and a brilliant century so far, accumulating 480 runs. The duo, in addition to Saim Ayub, has also made some excellent opening partnerships together.
Mohammad Haris and Tom Kohler-Cadmore have been pretty solid in the middle order, but both James Neesham and Azmatullah Omarzai failed to get going during death overs and failed to lift the team’s score.
