Saqlain Mushtaq Steps Down as Spin Bowling Coach of Multan Sultans

PSL 9: Saqlain Mushtaq Steps Down as Spin Bowling Coach of Multan Sultans

Due to scheduling difficulties, Saqlain Mushtaq, the spin bowling coach for the Multan Sultans in the 2017 PSL season, steps down ahead of PSL 9 2024.

David Parsons, a former ECB performance director, will now take over as his replacement. Currently serving as England Netball’s performance director, Parsons was the national spin bowling coach for the ECB.

He had a good relationship with Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen while he was in the team’s academy, despite his current focus being on things other than cricket. In the past, Parsons collaborated with young spinners like Multan’s current member Faisal Akram.

Former England Women’s spinner Alex Hartley will support Parsons in his coaching capacity. It’s interesting to note that Saqlain was first hired in October 2023 to instruct spin bowling for the Sultans.

“Having Saqlain Mushtaq join our team made us very happy as he has a huge following and local experience that is unmatched.” However, some scheduling conflicts have arisen, forcing us to pause our collaboration. At some point in the future, we will undoubtedly utilize his experience,” stated Sultans’ owner and CEO, Ali Khan Tareen.
