Gujarat Titans Beat Punjab Kings by 6 Wickets in the 16th Match of IPL 2022

Gujarat Titans beat Punjab Kings by 6 wickets smashing two sixes on the last two balls. This is their third win in a row. Gujarat won the toss and was elected to field first in the 16th match of the IPL 2022 tournament on Friday (April 6). As a result, Punjab Kings batted first and scored 169 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. English cricketer Liam Livingstone scored the highest 64 runs for the team with the bat.

19 runs were required from the last 6 balls to win. Seven runs came from the first four balls of the over, in which one wicket was lost. As a result, the last two balls stood at 12 runs. That is what Gujarat Titans batsman Rahul Tewatia did.  Batting for 190, Gujarat scored 161 for 3 at the end of the 19th over. As a result, the target stood at 19 runs in the last over to win. Gujarat scored 13 runs in the 19th over of the innings.

The first ball of the last over by Odin Smith is wide. As a result, the target came down to 18 runs from 8 balls. In the next ball, captain Hardik Pandya was run out due to a misunderstanding with David Miller. Pandia’s run out for 28 off 16 balls with 5 fours put Gujarat under more pressure.

Rahul Tewatia, who came to the wicket in the second ball of the over, took one run. Miller took four off the third ball and one off the fourth. As a result, new batsman Rahul Tewatia scored 12 runs off two balls. Tewatia is said to be the hero in an impossible match without a winning six.

Rahul Tewatia picked up an incredible victory by hitting two sixes off the last two balls of West Indies bowler Odin Smith. With 13 runs off 3 balls, he gave Gujarat a taste of the third consecutive victory. Earlier, Gujarat had dreamed of winning the team’s opener Shubhaman Gill’s 95-run innings with the bat.

Shubhaman Gill played a devastating inning with 11 fours and a six-off 59 balls with the bat. As a result, Tewatia became the hero by hitting sixes in the last two balls, but the best prize of the match went to Shubhaman.

The newcomers to the IPL 2022, the Gujarat Titans, won all three of their matches in a row. However, Gujarat is in second place as it lags behind Kolkata Knight Riders in terms of run rate.
