AFC said four countries had expressed interest in hosting the AFC Asian Cup 2023 football tournament. Countries that are interested in hosting this tournament are Australia, South Korea, Qatar, and Indonesia. The name of the host country will be officially announced in October 2022.

China will not host the 2023 Asian Cup football. The country has withdrawn its name from the host citing the reason Corona. The Asian Cup was supposed to be held from June 16 next year. The Asian Football Confederation will have to look for a new host as China withdraws from hosting the 24-nation tournament.

In a statement, the governing body of Asian football confirmed that China has given up hosting rights. The AFC also said that further decisions regarding the hosting of the tournament will be announced in due course. AFC will announce the name of the host country on October 17.

Qatar, the host country of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, has hosted the Asian Cup twice. The wealthy Middle Eastern country hosted the tournament in 1988 and 2011. This time they want to organize this event in their own field. However, Indonesia has never hosted the Asian Cup before. The last tournament was sponsored by Australia, where Qatar has crowned champions.
